Best NMN Supplement UK

What are NMN supplements? How do they work? Here, Ben Hardman explains exactly why NMN supplements are taking the anti-ageing industry by storm, and which is the best NMN supplement in the UK today.

Are you looking to find the best NMN supplements? Do you want to investigate the most effective NMN tablets to work their anti-ageing and health related benefits?

You’re not the only one. In recent years, nicotinamide mononucleotide (better known as NMN), has surged in popularity. It’s not surprising after the World Health Organisation added ageing to its international classification of diseases for the first time.

NMN supplements offer a potential solution to premature ageing, as well as helping a person feel more energetic and generally healthier. This is because NMN is a precursor to NAD+, a coenzyme that is present in all living cells that helps to keep everything functioning as it should.

If you’ve heard about the benefits and are on the hunt for a good NMN supplement, you’ll want to buy one that has a verified formulation and good active ingredient levels. These are the things that count, not attractive marketing and fancy bottles.

Our research and experience will help you find the best NMN supplement so you can tap into the benefits this compound offers to your health.

What Is NMN?

Before we list the NMN supplements we’ve researched as the best, it’s probably best to understand them fully first. So, what are they?

NMN stands for nicotinamide mononucleotide. NMN is a naturally occurring compound found in small amounts in vegetables and fruits, including broccoli, cabbage, cucumbers and edamame.

Our bodies can also synthesise NMN from vitamin B3. However, the quantities aren’t huge and are limited by enzyme activity.

On its own, NMN isn’t too special; but it’s known as an important precursor for NAD+. And it is NAD+ that we, our bodies, and cells want more of.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) is a coenzyme, which plays a crucial role in metabolism, cellular functioning, and energy production in cells.

By the time you hit middle age, it’s thought that NAD+ levels have fallen dramatically. Research indicates that levels are around half what they were from youth.

Ok, so why don’t we just supplement with NAD+ then?

Good question.

Unfortunately, our bodies cannot absorb straight NAD+. It’s not absorbed well through the digestive system, and it’s not taken up directly by cells. NAD+ needs to be synthesised. And to be synthesised, you need precursors. This is where the most important NAD+ precursor comes in: NMN.

Benefits Of Taking NMN Supplement

Just as NAD+ levels decline with age, so does NMN.

The main benefit of taking NMN is that it’s the most important precursor for NAD+. When taken orally, NMN is quickly absorbed and converted to NAD+.

So, when we’re talking about benefits of NMN supplements, we’re really talking about the benefits of NAD+, which are directly and heavily influenced by NMN.

Here are the main benefits of taking NMN supplements that primarily stem from their impact on NAD+:

Improved insulin sensitivity

Insulin resistance is a common problem that can lead to type 2 diabetes and other health issues. Some studies have suggested that NMN supplements may help improve insulin sensitivity by enhancing insulin secretion and action.

Increased energy

NAD+ has been shown to play an important role in mitochondrial functioning. Mitochondria are known as the powerhouse of our cells, so improving functioning here leads to more energy. This can also have beneficial effects on age-associated weight gain.

Improved cellular function

NAD+ is found in all living cells. Higher intracellular NAD+ levels have been shown to result in greater energy, improved regulation of cellular repair, and overall better chances of survival. The benefits extend across the body, including to your eyes, heart, skin, muscles, blood markers and more.

Reduced inflammation

Some studies have suggested that NMN supplements may help reduce inflammation, in particular age-related adipose tissue inflammation. Reducing inflammation is essential in preventing a wide range of health problems associated with cardiovascular health and heart functioning.

It’s important to note that while these benefits are promising and are science-backed, more specific human research is needed to fully understand the effects of NMN supplements in our bodies.

To date, there are no known adverse effects associated with NMN. Supplements are generally safe and well-tolerated. However, like with most supplements, stomach upsets are not out of the question.

4 Best NMN Supplements

Let’s take a closer look at four of the best NMN supplements available on the UK market.

Liposomal NMN+

Liposomal NMN+ is a 98% pure NMN supplement manufactured by GenF20. Each one capsule (vegetarian) serving of Liposomal NMN+ supplies you with 250mg of NMN.

This is a little on the low side in terms of dosing, although still clinically shown to increase NAD+ levels. The major benefit with this supplement is that it’s pure.

Genf20 Lipsomal NMN+ bottle front and back

Having been third-party tested, Liposomal NMN+ is verified as having one of the highest purity levels available on the NMN market. This is important as you can get products from relatively unknown brands containing incorrect quantities.

The Liposomal NMN+ supplement is designed to improve the absorption and bioavailability of NMN into the body. For some people, absorption is reduced through stomach acids.

However, Liposomal NNM+ contains liposomes, which are tiny particles that encapsulate the NMN molecules and transport them directly into the bloodstream. This delivery method allows for faster and more efficient absorption of NMN, which can then be used to synthesise the all-important NAD+.

Liposomal NMN+ is billed as a dietary supplement to promote cellular regeneration, mitochondrial functioning, and DNA health. The company claims that users of Liposomal NMN+ can start feeling younger in just two weeks. It’s important to note that these claims have not been evaluated by regulatory authorities. They also state that results may be subtle at first and progress over time.

Made in the USA, the Liposomal NMN+ supplement is free from preservatives, gluten, wheat and soy, making it suitable for most people with dietary restrictions.

Renue Lipo NMN

Renue’s Lipo NMN is a well-dosed supplement aimed to boost your body’s NAD+ levels. As the name suggests, Renue also uses nanoscale liposomes to safely deliver NMN into your body and bloodstream.

Renue Lipo NMN bottle

Renue recommends taking a two-capsule serving of Lipo NMN each day. With each capsule containing 250mg of NMN, you’re getting a fantastic 500mg of NMN per day. The other ingredients in the capsules are also completely plant-based, meaning this product is vegan friendly.

Importantly, Lipo NMN has also been third-party analysed by a laboratory, so you can be sure you’re getting what’s stated in the product details.

Lipo NMN is made in the US and features Renue’s proprietary powder-based liposomes. They give plenty of detail about the mechanisms behind liposomal delivery. The main advantage is that the NMN is protected by a phospholipid membrane that means they’re not digested by enzymes or filtered out by the liver as they are seen as native bodies.

Remaining intact, they are transported into the bloodstream and slowly dissolved after a few hours. Renue believe that liposomal delivery makes an NMN supplement 3x more efficient than pure NMN powder, where only around 30% actually makes it into your blood.

Renue Lipo NMN is an excellent choice for those looking for a high-quality NMN supplement that is easy to take.

Ultra Purity NMN

Ultra Purity NMN is a highly-rated NMN supplement courtesy of Azaroe.

Azaroe Ultra Purity NMN box bottle and capsules

Unlike the other NMN products so far on our list, Ultra Purity NMN contains other active ingredients in each capsule, namely trans-resveratrol and black pepper extract. We’ll get onto these shortly.

First up, a two-capsule serving of Ultra Purity delivers 500mg of NMN. This is a healthy dosage. I can’t see any documentation to say that Ultra Purity has been independently verified to check for dosing levels, so bear this in mind. The reviews, however, are very impressive.

So, why the added ingredients?

Trans-resveratrol has been shown to be a natural activator of sirtuins. These are proteins (for example, SIRT1 and SIRT3) that are associated with cellular health and DNA integrity. It’s thought that the 600mg of trans-resveratrol in Ultra Purity can work synergistically with NMN to accelerate DNA repair and reap the many benefits of NAD+.

The other ingredient, black pepper extract, can be found in many other supplements. It’s sometimes found as piperine. It’s said to increase the bioavailability and absorption of the key ingredients thanks to its inhibitory effect on certain enzymes found in your gastrointestinal tract.

It’s fair to say that this isn’t as effective a delivery method of NMN as the liposomal methods of the two products above.

Azaroe believes this 3-in-1 advanced formula is designed to boost NAD+ levels and support immune health. Ultra Purity NMN is also vegan friendly and gluten-free.

Livemax NMN

Livemax is another highly-rated NMN supplement. Like Ultra Purity above, Livemax NMN contains a 3-in-1 formula for extra potency.

LIVEMAX NMN bottle

Each two-capsule serving of Livemax NMN delivers 500mg of NMN, 600mg of trans-resveratrol, and 50mg of black pepper extract. To all intents and purposes, it’s the same formulation as Ultra Purity.

The benefits of taking Livemax NMN include enhanced mitochondrial performance, better metabolism, and improved cellular health and regulation, as well as the all-important healthy ageing advantages.

The Livemax NMN capsules are USA-formulated and contain no GMOs, preservatives, gluten, soy or dairy. It’s stated that Livemax NMN is third-party tested, but I can’t see any documentation unlike the evidence we see with Renue’s Lipo NMN and Liposomal NMN+. That said, there are hundreds of excellent reviews on their Amazon page.

With 60 capsules in a bottle, this will keep you supplied for around two months. In terms of value for money, Livemax NMN is one of the best NMN supplements for this.

What’s The Optimal Dosage For NMN?

NMN supplements are available in various forms, including capsules, powders and tablets.

The ideal NMN dose isn’t yet known. This is because it will differ from person to person depending on factors such as age, weight, and overall health.

That said, research studies do suggest that doses in the range of 300-900mg are best. From our list above, most of the products contain 500mg of NMN, which is a solid and effective amount.

How To Choose The Best NMN Supplement

NMN supplementation is a fast-growing market. With this in mind, you will always get some chancers trying to sell ineffective NMN products.

Here are a few important factors to keep in mind before you buy NMN:

Quality & purity

One of the most important factors to consider when choosing an NMN supplement is the quality and purity of the product. If you can, opt for supplements from reputable brands that have been third-party tested and with the documentation to prove it. It’s not always stated, but you want at least 90% pure NMN.

Dosage

The ideal NMN dosage is not yet known and will vary from person to person. Research studies often use doses between 300-900mg, so this is the range you’ll often see in the best available NMN supplements.

Other Ingredients

In addition to NMN, some supplements contain other ingredients to enhance their effectiveness. Trans-resveratrol and liposomal delivery systems are likely to enhance the product. But if there are some ingredients in there, question why and look into their effectiveness, as they may be there to simply fill out the product.

Price

The price of NMN supplements can range quite drastically. I’d always suggest digging into the ingredient list to see exactly what’s in the product. If two products contain the same active ingredient profile, any differences in price come largely down to marketing. Research is key here.
