Crossrope is a leading designer and manufacturer of weighted jump ropes that are designed for weight loss and strength building. We have long been fans of the use of jump ropes for both cardio and strength-based exercises thanks to their portable nature and lowish price entry point, so when Crossrope contacted us asking us to test out their range of ropes, there was a feverish buzz around the office.
We are pleased to bring you our full Crossrope review that looks at the Get Fit, Get Lean and Get Strong bundles that they offer with ropes that vary from 1/4lb to 2lb in weight.
What Is Crossrope?
Crossrope is a leading brand of jump ropes with a focus on top-quality ropes, handles and quick release attachments. They are by no means the cheapest brand on the market, but they aim to be the best and their quest for creating the best jump rope is their sole focus. In other words, jump ropes are all that they do!
They offer weighted ropes and interchangeable handles with weights of 1/4lb, 1/2lb, 1lb and 2lb. Unlike some of the cheaper brands, the weight comes from the rope itself rather than the handles, and this provides a more balanced and more challenging workout.
There are two sets of handles to choose from (both of which have been newly designed for 2020) with their Slim Handles that are suitable for the 1/4lb and 1/2lb ropes and their Power Handles which are suitable for their 1lb and 2lb ropes.
Both the Slim Handles and the Power Handles have been newly designed for 2020 and as such both have seen significant improvements to their predecessors. Both sets of handles are comfortable to use thanks to an ergonomic design and both use fast clip connectors to attach your rope of choice. In addition to this, the handles utilise precision steel bearings and really do provide a super smooth motion for your workout.
All Crossrope handles are backed by a lifetime warranty, and that alone makes them worth the investment as they really are the best handles we have used, and they’re covered.
Each handle type can attach any of the rope weights to them, but it is advised to use the Slim Handles on the lighter ropes and the Power Handles on the heavier ropes for better control and balance between rope and handle. That being said, it is very quick and easy to swap from one weighted rope to another weighted rope to increase or decrease the intensity of your workout as and when is required thanks to the fast clip connections – this is all done with the minimum of fuss.
Crossrope Jump Ropes
If you are serious about using jump ropes for cardio or strength training, then it is hard to imagine a better rope than Crossrope. Each rope (of which there are four to choose from) features a proprietary coating which makes the ropes extremely durable.
In fact, Crossrope claim that their ropes can be used on any surface without damage being sustained to the rope. In our testing, we found that the ropes were extremely durable and unlike other cheaper models that do tend to show wear after a few uses on hard surfaces, the Crossrope really does show no sign of degradation.
As well as being highly durable, the Crossrope ropes feature a tangle free design. This not only allows for tangle-free workouts which are safer, but it also means the ropes are easier to store without those annoying tangles when you come to use the rope. Each rope features a stainless steel connector clip at each end which simply pushes in to the handle connectors to attach it.
The ropes themselves contain the weight and most people will find that using these ropes will likely improve form and provide the most consistent jump rope workouts possible.
One other point to make regarding the ropes is that there is a range of sizes with four sizes to choose from, and rope lengths that range from 8’0″ to 9’6″. This means that the ropes are suitable for users of heights between 4’9″ and 6’9″, which is something you rarely see from other brands that require you to cut your ropes to length and often lead to bad results.
All of the Crossrope handles and ropes can be purchased individually but they also offer three different jump rope bundles which offer extra value. They are the Get Fit bundle, Get Lean bundle and Get Strong bundle. As you can imagine, each bundle is aimed at users with various goals.
The Get Lean bundle is designed for those users looking to use their ropes primarily for cardio and lean muscle building. It contains the Slim Handles, 1/4lb and 1/2lb ropes. It also comes with a handy carry pouch as well as access to the Crossrope Lite app (more on that shortly).
This is a great bundle to choose for anyone looking to lose weight or tone up through cardio-based workouts, and the ability to be able to transition from 1/4lb to 1/2lb quickly and easily is really useful for cardio workouts or HIIT type workouts where timing is key.
The Get Strong bundle contains the two heavier ropes. The 1lb and 2lb ropes are ideal for high-intensity strength-based workouts, with the heavier rope being a particularly good option for a full body workout. Like the other bundles, you get a carry bag and the Crossrope Lite app.
The Get Fit bundle gives you everything. You get both the Slim and Power Handles and all four ropes. This gives you the best of both worlds and essentially provides you with the ultimate jump rope experience with quick and easy access to four levels of weight as well as cardio and strength-based workouts.
If the quality of the ropes and handles didn’t make the Crossrope stand out from the crowd, then the app is the complete game changer. There are two versions of the app – the Lite version which is free, and the paid membership which is $9.95 per month. It might sound like a lot for the full version, but if you compare to it to memberships such as Peloton (up to £39 per month) then it is actually pretty budget friendly.
The Lite version gives you access to the 10 most recent workouts, 6 fitness challenges, and tutorials for beginners, as well as syncing with Google Fit and Apple Health. The full membership provides you with even more workouts and a patent pending jump counter that actually counts every jump – pretty impressive stuff!
Crossrope is a class leader in its field that provides the ultimate jump rope experience no matter your level of expertise. There is no other jump rope that we have come across that offers the ease of use, durability and fluidity of movement as Crossrope provides you with. Yes it is a little more expensive than some other brands, but there is literally nothing else on the market that compares when it comes to quality and longevity.
Whether you are looking for home-based or portable cardio equipment or strength training – Crossrope leads the way.
