There is a great market for probiotics out there. These friendly bacteria should help to replenish your gut and support broader microbiome health. There is also a flourishing trade in high-quality thermogenic compounds, or fat burners, as well as supplements designed to mitigate symptoms of hormonal imbalance.

Provitalize seeks to do all of these things at once. Unfortunately, it is largely unsuccessful. There are plenty of other products out there that do a far better job.

Our Quick Verdict On Provitalize

There is simply no room for something as undirected and poorly thought-out as Provitalize.

It is a solid probiotic, but it tries to focus too heavily on weight management, which it really isn’t very good at.

There are plenty of ingredients it could include to remedy this, but it inexplicably overlooks them all. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

What is Provitalize?

Provitalize is a supplement designed to improve gut health in a few specific, very well-warranted instances.

It’s made my Better Body Company, an American wellness company who focus on making gut-improving supplements. The company also produces other products such as Previtalize, inergySLEEP, and inergyPLUS. Over a million women have purchased Provitalize so far. So, really, it seems to have some pedigree. Or, at least, some kind of staying power.

Better Body Company have made Provitalize as a dietary supplement that they claim can help to melt away stubborn fat whilst also provide a range of other health benefits. It should help to allay many symptoms of the menopause and post-menopause whilst more generally looking after gut health. But can it really?

I have my doubts. The first is in phrasing. I see a big red flag whenever anybody mentions ‘burning belly fat’. Firstly, you cannot ‘burn’ fat. Your body can use it as a fuel source. That’s a niggle, a quirk of language, however, so I’m happy to overlook it…

Except that you also cannot target belly fat. You can lose weight globally. Fat will leave your belly when your body is genetically programmed to lose it there as part of a broader slim down. It will not leave in isolation if there are other parts of your body retaining fat, which there will be.

The other health benefits may be worth considering, however. It’s a bit of a new topic for me, as the benefits they claim are pretty diverse, but we can follow the science and see where it leads us.

What does Provitalize do?

Better Body Company have designed and made Provitalize to improve the quality of life of women who are near menopause or have hormonal imbalances. They claim that the supplement can also have a thermogenic probiotic effect that can help with weight management and provide natural energy.

Provitalize bottle

Provitalize is, at heart, an optimised probiotic formula that aims to improve your gut health and digestive function, your natural immunity, and ability to manage your weight more ably, largely targeted among menopausal women. Alongside this probiotic blend, it contains several botanical extracts designed to augment its natural benefits.

Alongside its alleged thermogenic properties, there are four other main benefits that Provitalize promises are on offer.

Firstly, it should help to reduce both hot flashes and night sweats, some of the more common and obvious signs of the menopause. This should provide a lot of comfort to many. It should also help to manage bloating, which can be common for those suffering with hormonal imbalances, particularly women experiencing their period. It does this with a great injection of healthy gut bacteria, which should enable improved gut health.

It should also help to improve energy levels through its final couple of benefits. One being that it should directly bolster your energy levels by giving you certain essential nutrients. There is a lot of talk amongst their user base about this one – anecdotally, at least, it seems to be a big win.

Secondly, it should lead to improved sleep quality. Anybody who has ever suffered from hormonal imbalances can tell you of their flagging energy levels and inability to get a good night’s rest, so this is potentially very important.

Of course, nothing can overcome a healthy diet and lifestyle. Do remember to pay attention to what you’re eating, try to live an active life, and speak with your healthcare provider if you are suffering from any worrying symptoms.

All of these benefits we’ve looked at rest on Provitalize’s probiotic nature, including the bulk of its thermogenic claims.

Probiotics are beneficial bacteria that play a crucial role in digestion and nutrient absorption, whilst also aiding in immune function by fighting harmful microorganisms, which can aid in weight management. Some studies suggest that probiotics can promote weight loss. In fact, around 85% of studies reviewed showed positive results obtained from probiotics.

However, not all probiotics are the same, and some strains may actually contribute to weight gain. Additionally, since there are many bacterial strains growing within the gut, ongoing research is exploring how altering each strain’s balance potentially upsets digestive function.

Provitalize ingredients

Provitalize Probiotic Blend is a dietary supplement that contains a blend of live-cultured bacteria designed to revitalize gut flora and improve digestive health. Each serving of the Provitalize formula provides 68.2 billion CFU (colony-forming units) of three specific bacterial strain: Bifidobacterium Lactis, Bifidobacterium Gasseri, and Bifidobacterium Breve.

These microorganisms are cultured in a way that ensures their efficacy in promoting better nutrient absorption and smoother digestive processes.

Bifidobacterium Lactis is a key component of Provitalize probiotics for women. Its main role is to enable weight loss, reduce cholesterol levels, and control inflammation in women. B.Lactis is naturally found in milk and cheese, but the special strain used in Provitalize is extracted to prevent digestive issues such as bloating, gas, and diarrhoea that can commonly occur in women over 30.

B.Lactis is also effective in negating the negative outcomes of antibiotics and strengthening the immune system. When combined with the other two bacterial strains in Provitalize, B.Lactis helps to remove accumulated toxins in the form of fat tissues and gastric abnormalities.

Lactobacillus Gasseri is commonly used to boost immunity, reduce allergies, and reduce belly fat. Though, as above, belly fat reduction in itself is an odd term that is only really true in a very loose sense.

L.Gasseri also prevents bacterial infection that can cause urinary tract infections in adults. Women with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) are often prescribed L.Gasseri probiotics to aid bowel movement and eliminate toxins from the gut.

Lactobacillus Gasseri also fights off vaginal flora that can negatively impact female genital health. It improves the functionality of the female reproductive system and can improve the excretion of faecal fat. Studies have shown that Lactobacillus Gasseri BNR17 supplementation reduces visceral fat accumulation and waist circumference in obese adults.

Bifidobacterium Breve can potentially reduce fat mass and is thus used often for fat-burning purposes. It executes symbiotic activity in the gut, where it remains intact. B.Breve gives great constipation relief in women suffering with menopause-induced digestive concerns.

It also regulates blood sugar levels and exerts anti-inflammatory effects. The effects of Bifidobacterium breve B-3 on body fat reductions in pre-obese adults have been studied in a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

As we can see, then, Provitalize Probiotic Blend contains a blend of live-cultured bacteria designed to revitalise gut flora and improve digestive health. The three bacterial strains in the formula – Bifidobacterium Lactis, Bifidobacterium Gasseri, and Bifidobacterium Breve – work together to promote better nutrient absorption, smoother digestive processes, and fat-burning. These bacterial strains have been studied for their efficacy in improving the health of menopausal women, reducing cholesterol levels, boosting immunity, and reducing belly fat.

Then there is a host of additional ingredients all included to support these probiotic strains.

Turmeric and its active compound, curcumin, have been found to possess anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. This makes it a useful supplement for easing joint pain whilst reducing muscle spasms or fatigue, which are common complaints among women over 40.

Moringa leaf extract, another ingredient in the Provitalize formula, acts as an anti-fungal, anti-viral, and antioxidant agent. It has been shown to improve blood circulation, balance blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and promote heart health.

Curry leaf, which contains the essential oil linalool, has been found to have antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antioxidant effects. Studies have also confirmed its positive effects on the central nervous system.

Lecithin is a fat mobilizer that helps to remove unhealthy fats from the body, making the process far more effective and easily accomplished. It also increases the absorption of female-friendly ingredients in the body and decreases high cholesterol levels.

Recent studies have even shown that lecithin may be beneficial for Alzheimer’s patients because it improves various pathways in the brain, which will be very helpful as we age.

Bioperine aids in the better absorption of the ingredients and speeds up the fat-burning mechanism. It is a thermogenic-friendly fat burner that fulfils the need for caffeine in the body without causing sleeplessness and jitteriness. Bioperine has been used by women to alleviate hormonal and digestive-related issues like weight gain and menopause.

Overall, Provitalize contains a blend of natural ingredients that have been shown to have various health benefits. It is designed to help women alleviate hormonal and digestive-related issues like weight gain and menopause, and improve overall health and well-being.

Using Provitalize

The recommended dosage is two capsules in the morning, which can be taken with or without a meal. Some users have reported better results when taking the supplement before breakfast, while others have reported better results when taking it with food. The supplement has received hundreds of reviews on Amazon, and there have been no reports of unexpected side effects.

The Better Body Company also recommends that users change their lifestyle and eating habits to attain optimal weight loss results. This is always needed and it’s nice to see a manufacturer actively telling its users to do so. The best thermogenic supplements out there (which, as we’ll see, this isn’t) will require significant lifestyle changes before they become in any way effective.

Looking into the formula and user reviews for Provitalize, I cannot in good conscience recommend it is effective for significant weight loss. While some reviewers have reported an increase in energy levels, weight loss results have been few and far between.

The ingredients in Provitalize are listed as a proprietary blend on the label, which means that the key probiotic ingredients are grouped together, and the exact ingredient dosage for each one is unknown. The ingredients that do list their specific dosages are quite low. Additionally, key fat-loss ingredients that promote energy and thermogenesis, such as caffeine and B vitamins, are absent from the supplement.

While Provitalize may help to settle gut issues and provide a little extra energy, it is unlikely to significantly impact the unintended weight gain that comes with menopause, even if users are also exercising and following a reduced-calorie diet.

What is missing?

I would have liked to have seen at least a couple of added ingredients, the kind that any self-respecting weight loss supplement should make good and liberal use of.

We often see glucomannan in fat burners, an ingredient extracted from the konjac plant root. Glucomannan is a form of incredibly soluble fibre. It expands up to fifty times its original size when mixed with water, causing satiety and doing away with hunger pangs. It’s one of my favourites and I’m always suspicious when it’s not included in a thermogenic compound.

Garcinia cambogia is a tropical plant. Its fruit is rich in hydroxycitric acid (HCA), which is often used in fat burners. It is known for accelerating weight loss and aiding satiation, thus mitigating hunger pangs, whilst also suppressing fat cell production.

Capsimax powder is a blend that combines the likes of cayenne pepper, niacin caffeine, and bioperine, to boost the body’s natural fat burning abilities.

Caffeine, one of the world’s favourite stimulants, has been shown to bolster metabolism – heightening rates of thermogenesis and thus quickening weight loss – improve cognitive performance, and give you a good energy boost.

Magnesium, an important macromineral that plays a part in hundreds of bodily processes, supports reactions generating ATP, which are vital for fat synthesis, protein synthesis, and glucose consumption.

Any of these would be welcome. The fact that they are all absent is a poor show on Provitalize’s part.

Provitalize is a completely natural supplement, entirely created from natural ingredients, which means quite a low risk of any side effects. However, probiotics can sometimes upset gut bacteria balance, which in turn could lead to stomach and digestive concerns including bloating, constipation, and flatulence. You shouldn’t use Provitalize if you’re taking NSAIDs or blood thinners.

First-timers probiotic supplement users may often suffer with mild nausea and bloating in the early days. This is because your body needs time to adjust to the new components such as probiotics, which usually takes only a day or two.

Overall, Provitalize is safer than most supplements because its sole purpose is to maintain a healthy balance of gut flora in women, which can stop several menopausal symptoms from occurring. However, it is likely ineffective for sustained weight management, which seems to be their main selling point.

It is important to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement regimen.

Alternatives

I would skip Provitalize. It isn’t the worst supplement out there – far from it. However, there are better supplements that can actually help you to achieve the results you’re after.

YourBiology Gut+ bottles

I would always recommend YourBiology Gut+. It’s a dietary supplement designed to support gut health and metabolism. It contains a blend of clinically proven probiotic strains, including Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Bifidobacterium Lactis, Lactobacillus Plantarum, Lactobacillus paracasei, Maktrek Marine Polysaccharide Complex, and Fructooligosaccha Ride.

YourBiology Gut+ works in four stages to optimize gut health and boost your immune health. The supplement has no reported side effects and comes with a 60-day money-back guarantee. The active ingredients in YourBiology Gut+ have been clinically studied and have shown to improve digestive health, support the growth of beneficial bacteria, and promote nutrient absorption.

Firstly, the diverse blend of probiotics in the supplement helps to reduce stress and anxiety levels by promoting the growth of good bacteria that supports the production of serotonin.

Secondly, the four major live and potent bacterial strains in the formula help to boost the digestive system, regulate bowel movements, and support healthy metabolism.

Thirdly, the good gut bacteria in YourBiology Gut+ help to improve focus, boost energy levels, and cognitive functions.

Lastly, the supplement helps to strengthen the immune system by balancing the gut microbiome and protecting against dangerous pathogens.

YourBiology Gut+ has received numerous positive reviews on its official website and across the internet. Users have praised its natural and practical approach, with its non-GMO formula proving to be an effective solution for those seeking to improve their gut health naturally. I’ve used it myself to great effect in the past, enjoying improved gut health, energy, mood, and weight loss ability.

Overall, YourBiology Gut+ is a high-quality probiotic formula that has been clinically proven to promote the growth of good gut microbiomes and improve digestive health. However, as with any dietary supplement, it is important to consult a physician before use, especially if you have pre-existing medical conditions.

The formula is all-natural, non-GMO, gluten-free, and free from allergens. The supplement itself is made in the USA in a GMP-certified facility. It is only available for purchase on the official website and may not be suitable for pregnant or lactating women or anyone under the age of 18.

My final take

Provitalize is OK. It’s actively good for overcoming some of the symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women, particularly focussed around the menopause. If they had marketed it as such, I’d be recommending it with a fair amount of enthusiasm.

However, they have also tried to tread into the often muddy waters of thermogenic supplementation. This is a risky move. There are some genuinely brilliant thermogenic supplements out there. There are also some decent probiotic formulas that should enable improved weight loss.

Provitalize isn’t one of them. There is no way they can compete with pure thermogenic supplements. There is no way they can happily pit themselves against the likes of YourBiology Gut+, which is incredibly high quality, very beneficial to your health as a whole, and actually can allow for improved weight loss (though this is by far a minor component in its list of promised benefits).

If you want a good probiotic formula, go with YourBiology Gut+. If you want a good thermogenic formula, buy an actual thermogenic supplement. I would recommend Hunter Burn, PhenQ, or Phen24, though realistically there are plenty out there.

There simply isn’t room in the supplement market for something as woolly and oddly focussed as Provitalize, unfortunately.
